Zoning Commission Meeting

Ron Massullo called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Massullo stated that Bill Gardner is serving as an alternate and will not be voting.

1st Order of Business:

Ron Massullo stated that the first order of business is to approve the minutes from the meeting held on February 24, 2016.  Frank Mazzocca made a motion to accept the minutes from the February 24, 2016 meeting.  Bob Barnhart seconded the motion.  All members were in favor.  Motion carried. 

 

2nd Order of Business:

Case ZC-01-16 - Is a request by Ron Massullo, Chairman of the Zoning Commission Board, to amend language to the Zoning Resolution of Poland Township, Poland, Ohio.

 

The proposed zone change would be an amendment to the current zoning resolution for all changes of text adopted.  Upon conclusion of the hearing, the matter will be submitted to the Board of Trustees for its action.

 

Massullo stated that this is a public hearing to amend the zoning resolution relevant to Section 4.09, R-3 Residence District, Section 4.14 Schedule of District Regulations R-3 Residence and Section 2.02 Definitions, Miscellaneous Material.

This matter was approved by the Mahoning County Planning Commission on March 22, 2016.

Massullo asked if anyone would like to speak in regard to this request.

Kim Kotheimer

Kotheimer stated that the legal notice is not specific as far as the request is concerned and asked that the details of the proposed zoning amendment be explained.

Massullo then explained the details of the proposed zoning amendment.

Kotheimer asked Massullo if he intends to rezone other areas of the township to R-3.  Massullo stated no, not at this time.

Kotheimer asked if one of the changes was for individual changes ownership development.  Massullo stated yes.  Kotheimer stated he has no problem with that portion of the language.  He does, however, have a problem with the current regulation as it pertains to density.  It does not create a financial hardship for anyone wishing to develop that land. 

Massullo asked if anyone else would like to speak.  No one responds.

After further discussion, the following motion was made.

Frank Mazzocca made a motion in Case ZC-01-16 to accept the proposed amendments to the Zoning Resolution relevant to Section 4.09, R-3 Residence District, Section 4.14 Schedule of District Regulations R-3 Residence and Section 2.02 Definitions, Miscellaneous Material.  Bob Barnhart seconded the motion.

Motion approved.

Massullo stated that Case ZC-01-16 has been approved and will be forwarded to the Trustees for their approval.
