- REGULAR MEETING
The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a regular meeting June 15, 2022 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.
Mr. Ungaro calls the meeting to order.
Chief Wilson leads the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mr. Scharville does roll call. Ungaro, Kempers, and Wollet are present.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the minutes dated May 11, 2022, May 24, 2022. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
Mr. Ungaro motions to authorize payment for all outstanding bills for the Township. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
Chief Wilson swears in Officer Ethan Moncilovich.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #22-13 Mutual Aide Agreement for Police Protection. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers.
Motion carried.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve Resolution #22-14 Nuisance Notice. The following properties include:

Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Mr. Canter is present, report is unavailable.
Trustees had a small discussion about streaming services for upcoming meetings.
Mrs. Wollet floats the idea of bringing safety forces day, where you can meet the departments like EMS, Fire Department and Police.
Mr. Ungaro motions to approve the formula for the ARPA Funds that would be distributed for local businesses and nonprofits. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
PARK COMMITTEE:
Mr. Ungaro motions to hire Dylan Smith at $12/hour for seasonal help. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
RECYCLING:
Mr. Ungaro motions to enter into an agreement for a fence from Austintown Fence Company for Recycling Center not to exceed $9,500. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
ZONING DEPARTMENT:
Mr. Robert Monus is present to give monthly report.
Monthly report from May.
- 2 new structures, valuation- $288,600; fees collected-$2,020
- 14 additional improvements, valuation-$277,573; fees collected-$1,967
- 8 misc. permits issued- $40; 1-appeal, $275-misc.; 0-amendments, 48 violations for the month
Total valuation for the month- $566,173; total fees collected $4,302; Year to date total valuation- $4,249,580
ROAD DEPARTMENT:
Mr. Tommy Monus is not present to give monthly report.
Mr. Scharville gives monthly report.
POLICE DEPARTMENT:
Chief Wilson is present to give monthly report.
Sergeant Jackson was present to give recognition of Life Saving certificates recognizing Officer Martinez, and Officer Peluso. Along with recognition of Officer Certificates recognizing Sergeant Jackson and Officer Argeras.
Mr. Flicky was present to give monthly report for the park.
Mr. Ungaro motions to enter into agreement with GNR Concrete and Masonry not to exceed $17,000. This is for sidewalks, parking lot, handicap section and restrooms in the park. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes – Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
ELECTED OFFICIAL COMMENTS:
Mrs. Wollet - Gives thanks to all the officers for the work they do. Celebrate Poland will be on Friday June 24th.
Mr. Kempers- Its nice seeing so many people here supporting our officers.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
Joseph Zdrilich of 3615 Polo Blvd, expresses his concern regarding grass cutting in a certain area on Polo Blvd.
Troy Rhodes from Ohio Edison, provided the board with an update with the easement rights of Ohio Energy/First Energy.
