Administration

                Poland Township Trustees held their Regular Meeting on March 13, 2018 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road, Poland Ohio.

                Mr. Scharville led the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Scharville called Roll call, present- Chairman Mr. Ungaro, Vice Chair Ms. Wollet, and Trustee Mr. Kempers. All present.

                Mr. Ungaro motioned to approve Special Minutes dated February 14, 2018, Regular Meeting dated February 14, 2018 and Special Meeting February 21, 2018. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting-yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers…Motion carried.

 Board of Trustees presented a lifesaving award Certificate to Patrol Officer Julie Henderson from Poland Township and Patrolman Michael Koening from Poland Village P.D. for saving a life on February 28, 2018.

Mr. Ungaro motioned to authorized payment for all outstanding bills for Poland Township. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting-yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers…motioned carried

Mr. Ungaro motioned to approve Resolution #18-05 the permanent appropriations. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting- yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers…motioned carried.              

Board of Trustees read a letter of proclamation to Mike Heher on his retirement, the division manager of public services at Carbon Limestone Landfill.

Karen DiVito and Gina Chiaro present a presentation on outside continuation of counseling for mental health and care for the students heart to heart.

Dan Parks from Parks Designs speaks on the web form for reporting potholes for the Township of Poland and the Village. He discussed CRM (Customer Relationship Management), which refers to practices, strategies and technologies to manage interaction with customers through the software. When the form is submitted from the website it shows detailed progress of the work being done. 

Park Committee

                Mr. Filicky gives the park committee report. Annual maintenance of the park will start in the next couple weeks. Several trees came down after the heavy weather two weeks ago. Trees, roads, and trails are all cleaned up. With warmer weather approaching the park will be fertilizing and it was noted 10,000 daffodils are coming up right now. 125 Norway Spruce Seedlings will be planted along the east fence line.              

Anthony Cordek who is a current 8th grader from Poland performed a service project in which he helped clean up hostas and fern gardens.

Zoning Department

Mr. Bob Monus gives the monthly zoning report.

  • Three additional improvements= $23,876 in valuation, fees= $ 180, misc. permit=$5.00
  • Total valuation= $ 23,876 and fees=$185.00

Mr. Ungaro motioned to approve Resolution #18-06 Nuisance order for property 2149 Manor Avenue.  Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting –yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers… motion passed.

                Mr. Ungaro motioned to approve part time Officer Mark Peluso to work in zoning, he is to be kept at his part time rate and to keep under 39 hours between the two departments Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting-yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers…motion passed.

Road Department

                Mr. Tom Monus gives monthly road department report. They are still out cold patching, cleaning out catch basins and also finished up the Canterbury project. There will be an update in April on the street sweeper.

                Mr. Ungaro motioned to approve J S Bova Construction for $7,344.00 additional work done in Canterbury water project. Seconded by Ms. Wollet. Voting- yes- Mr. Ungaro, Ms. Wollet, Mr. Kempers…motioned passed.

                Ms. Wollet speaks on the roads regarding a road maintenance plan.

Police Department

                Chief Goodin presents monthly report February 2018.

Traveled 9,431 miles for the month.              

Patrolman Joshua Kozic hired into Poland Township Police Department.

Public Comment

                Joanna Stefick a resident of Poland lives on the bottom of Venloe and speaks about the end of her driveway. About a year ago the township black topped that section of road and now when it rains a lot of water sits at the end of her driveway and when it freezes it is worse.  Mr. Tom Monus agreed to stop by the following day to see what can be done to fix it.
