                                                                   Special Meeting 

The Poland Township Board of Trustees held a Special Meeting on February 23, 2023 at the Poland Township Government Center located at 3339 Dobbins Road Poland, Ohio.

Mr. Ungaro opens the special meeting.

Mr. Kempers led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Covell calls roll call. Mr. Ungaro, Mrs. Wollet and Mr. Kempers were present.

The media was properly notified.

Mr. Ungaro presents the opinion from Attorney Trimocco.  The letter provided an opinion as to when the township became a police district.

It is Attorney Trimocco opinion the township has been a police district effective in 1994. This puts the 1981 police levy in jeopardy. Current expense levy from 1977 roughly generates $230K, and it’s final collection year is 2023. The loss of this levy which is general fund money, in conjunction with the 1981 police levy is detrimental to the township and necessitates the need for a new levy.

Mr. Ungaro motions to adjourn the meeting at 5:35 p.m. Seconded by Mrs. Wollet. Voting yes - Ungaro, Wollet and Kempers. Motion carried.
